Adam de Turberville has a litigation practice focused mainly on serious and catastrophic personal injury cases. Adam has extensive trial experience, both in judge alone and jury trials, and is widely regarded for his knowledge of substantive law, evidence and trial procedure. Adam has also appeared a number of times in the Court of Appeal of British Columbia. Cases in which Adam has been trial or appeal counsel include: Lines v. Gordon, a case cited for numerous legal points including a new statutory interpretation for net past income loss and Kirk v. Kloosterman, a multi-million dollar jury award for an injured motorcyclist in a hotly disputed liability case.
Adam has practised in the areas of personal injury and civil litigation since 1990. He is a regular speaker at conferences of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia (TLABC), the premiere legal organisation for trial lawyers in BC. Adam also works with students who are training to be lawyers as a guest instructor with the Professional Legal Training Course.
Adam holds Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Victoria. Adam was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1990 and joined Ramsay Lampman Rhodes as Associate Counsel in July 2003. Before that, Adam was a partner in another law firm in Nanaimo for 10 years.
Adam is on the Board of Governors of the TLABC. He is a past president of the Nanaimo City and County Bar Associations. Adam provides free legal services through the Salvation Army pro bono clinic and is a long-time member of the Bastion Running Club.
